“You’re wrong, Google” – It stops with me.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

It stops with me is an australian anti racism campaign who’s trying to put in the spotlight the idea that too many people experience racism, prejudice and discrimination on a regular basis. All across Australia, there are people and organisations doing great things to reduce and prevent racism.

A research have shown that it’s often the people working on the ground within local communities or specific environments who have the best understanding of the issues and ideas of how to overcome them. The most effective way to make a difference in the incidence of racism is to encourage and coordinate these efforts. Campaign’s most important goals for the next year are:

1

Ensure more Australians recognise that racism is unacceptable in our community.

2

Give more Australians the tools & resources to take practical action against racism.

3

Empower individuals to respond effectively to racism without hesitation.

Racism can directly or indirectly exclude people from accessing services or participating in employment, education, sport and social activities. It can also occur at a systemic or institutional level through policies, conditions or practices that disadvantage certain groups.

It can take many forms, such as jokes or comments that cause offence or hurt, sometimes unintentionally; name-calling or verbal abuse; harassment or intimidation, or commentary in the media or online that inflames hostility towards certain groups. At its most serious, racism can result in acts of physical abuse and violence. In these conditions, an anti racism campaign was totally necessary.
