Just a few words about Cinemagraphs: what, how and why they matter.

They look simple yet very engaging and the reason why the cinemagraph has been invented in the industry is to allow photographers to preserve the living moment. “More than a photo, but less than a video” is the most common expression used to describe this type of artwork.

IKEA store opening campaign,‎‎ Abu Dhabi.

ABOUT THE JOB

Up until this point, there was a single IKEA store in Abu Dhabi, and the current location required a 30-minute drive from the city centre. In a bid to become more accessible, the Swedish furniture store decided to move closer to people’s homes by opening a second 2,100 square meter branch at Al Wahda Mall, right in the heart of Abu Dhabi.



With the opening of a new store in sight, the Ogilvy advertising and marketing agency was appointed to promote the event, and I was contacted to create the key visuals and cinemagraphs for this campaign.
